Marco came to Koh Phangan for the first time in 2007 and had been here for just a week before he knew he wanted to live on this island.

In July 2008 Tony and Marco opened their first restaurant in the centre of Haad Rin. Almost 10 years later, they opened a second location in Thong Sala.

Monnalisa prides itself on its traditional Southern Italian food mainly inspired by the region of Napoles. Chef Cinzia is an experienced Italian herself so you know that the recipes are genuine and made with honesty. Everything is homemade with only Italian products. The quality is important because everyone can do pizza but Monnalisa does it right! 


The oven and the stone comes from Italy. Every morning the chef comes in and makes the dough for the next day as it needs a minimum of 24 hours rest to be good. After 24 to 48 hours it’s best. They use just natural ingredients, flour, olive oil and yeast.

The fresh pasta is served ‘al dente’ as it should be and you can choose from an assortment of freshly prepared toppings which are lovingly made each and every single day. 

Monnalisa is a warm and friendly restaurant which has gained great success throughout the years on Koh Phangan because of its genuine Italian cuisine.

You can sit with friends over a bottle of wine and delicious pizza from the fire oven or lovingly made homemade pasta, fresh that day.
